Black Silicon Carbide /Black Carborundum is brittle and sharp.It is produced at high temperature in electric resistance type furnace with quarts sand and petroleum coke as its main raw materials. Its hardness is between Aluminum Oxide and Synthetic Diamond. Mechanical intensity of it is higher than Aluminum Oxide. It is brittle and sharp and has electrical and heat conductivity in some degree. It is suitable for make grinding wheels, cutting wheels, mounted wheels, oil stone, abrasive media, and also suitable for surface grinding, lapping or polishing. The abrasive products made of it are suitable for working on Cast Iron, Non-ferrous Metal, Rock, Leather, Rubber, Wood, ceramic, etc. It is also broadly used as high-grade refractory material and metallurgical additive.

1, main silicon carbide abrasive, stability of high hardness, toughness determined by sic grinding tool can be used in the manufacture of consolidation, coated abrasive free grinding glass, ceramics, stone, cast iron and some non-ferrous metals, hard alloy, titanium alloy, high speed steel cutter grinding wheel, etc.
2, refractory corrosion resistant material - main silicon carbide with high melting point (temperature), chemical inert reting resistance silicon carbide can be used for abrasive, ceramic products by burning kiln with shed board saggar, zinc smelting industry vertical cylinder distillation furnace with carbon silica brick, aluminum electrolytic cell line, crucible, such as a furnace material of silicon carbide ceramic products.
3, chemical use, silicon carbide steel melt steel hydrolysis and free oxygen, metal oxide reaction of carbon containing silicon oxide slag for smelting steel cleaning agent is used for steelmaking deoxidizer cast iron tissue conditioner, generally with using low purity of silicon carbide to reduce the raw material for manufacturing silicon tetrachloride.
